Laurel Ovitt
Whitehall,
Montana
I’m a fifth generation Montanan, with an associate degree in Forestry and a
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering Technology. Originally started working
for the SCS in 1976 inspecting dams for watershed. I did that for a couple
years, then built houses for a while. Got my engineering degree from MSU, and
then returned with NRCS in 1987. I have been doing artwork and selling it since
high school (early 1970s), but only started working with watercolors since 1983.
I draw on my experience growing up with horses, working a short stint as a
wrangler for an outfitter in the Bob Marshall Wilderness, spending lots of time
in the outdoors and growing up near a wildlife refuge (Nation Bison Range). I do
approximately 28 to 30 shows per year, including donations and quick draws for
several community foundations in the area. I keep my prices low as I think
everyone should be able to own artwork, including originals.
