Information for Content Managers

Development

  1. Identify content to be added to the Montana NRCS website. Remember to use hyperlinks rather than duplicating material available elsewhere on the Internet.
  2. Determine where the content will fit within the Montana NRCS website structure.
  3. Work with a Web Author to develop a draft format of the new or revised webpage(s) on the development server.

Currently authorized Web Authors are:

  • Mary Myers (all content)
  • Ivy Allen (all content)
  • Debbie Kaiser (Technical Resources)
  • Jerry Schaefer (Technical Resources)
  • Erik Suffridge (Programs)
  • Roy Kaiser (Snow Survey)
  • Mary Beth Martinec (Soil Survey, Contact Us)
  • Bruce Krueger (Engineering)
  • Julie Tesky (NRI)

Review

  1. The Web Author will notify you when new or revised webpages are ready for review on the review server. Work with the Web Author to make any corrections needed.
  2. After any corrections have been made, the Content Manager is responsible for approving accuracy and appropriateness of content. Review the revised content on the review server, and send the Web Author an email giving approval, which must be forwarded or carbon copied to the Webmaster before the pages are published to the live public server.

Publishing

Once content approval has been received, and both Section 508 (accessibility) and style requirements have been met, the Webmaster will publish new or revised webpage(s) to the live public server.

Maintenance

At least once a month, review your subweb. Have the Web Author make any necessary changes.

  1. Check for outdated content. Either have it removed or provide the Web Author with updated content.
  2. Check for broken internal and external links.
