by Ivy Allen, Earth Team Volunteer Coordinator Julia Sable,
a Montana Earth Team Volunteer and Montana State University (MSU) film
program graduate student, volunteered to help Montana NRCS produce an
exciting new video titled, “Cultivating Conservation with the Bridger Plant
Materials Center.”
Julia worked on the production for over a year and volunteered over
300 hours of her time. NRCS relied on Julia to put together scenes in
which she described and outlined the functions of Bridger Plant
Materials Center (PMC) and their partnership approach to fixing
conservation problems. Julia spent a large amount of time researching
the agencies and partnerships that use PMC products. Julia solely
coordinated all the interviews, illustrations, and photographic
reference materials in the video. Her creativity, resourcefulness,
and ability to see a project through resulted in a distinctive and
successful presentation.
Under a volunteer student agreement, Julia received partial tuition
reimbursement because of her extraordinary dedication to making the
video an outstanding success. Julia’s effective communication skills
were applauded all NRCS partners and employees. Her ability to work collaboratively on projects involving numerous people,
settings, and the ability to guide
production of the project quickly and effectively was apparent!
Roger Hybner, Bridger Plant Materials Center Manager, was able to
premier “Cultivating Conservation with the Bridger Plant Materials
Center” during the 2008 PMC Field Day. The video was viewed by over 110
attendees, and showcased a variety of efforts and projects to
which the PMC contributes.
