Agricultural Water Enhancement Program

The Agricultural Water Enhancement Program (AWEP) is a special opportunity for conservation partner groups under the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP). Financial assistance will be set aside nationally for approved AWEP proposals from partners groups and organizations that propose water conservation or water quality improvements on agricultural lands. Once the Chief of NRCS approves a partner’s proposal and announces selection, the agricultural producers within the project area may submit an EQIP application for the AWEP funding directly to their local NRCS office. A primary intent of AWEP is to leverage other non-Federal resources along with NRCS program resources to achieve program objectives. While partners are not required to provide financial or technical resources towards a project (match), proposals that include or offer partner provided resources will be given higher priority consideration in the evaluation process.
