Wetlands Reserve Program (WRP)
The Natural Resources Conservation Service is looking for sites on agricultural land where former wetlands have been drained, altered, or manipulated by man. The landowner must be interested in restoring the wetland and then protecting the site. Once under an easement or a contract, the land can no longer be cropped. Haying and grazing may be used as a tool through a wetland management plan as determined by NRCS to maintain or improve wildlife habitat. Fiscal Year 2013 WRPMontana NRCS is currently accepting applications for WRP. Please contact your local field office to apply or contact Lisa McCauley at lisa.mccauley@mt.usda.gov or 406-587-6970.
