Montana Department of Agriculture Emergency Livestock Assistance Grants

USDA has transferred $933,443 to the Montana Department of Agriculture to administer an emergency livestock assistance grant program. Grants will be provided to producers who have experienced forage production losses due to drought. The grant program will run for one year. The grant limit is $10,000 and cannot exceed the amount of the producer's loss.

Counties eligible for the program include: Big Horn, Carbon, Carter, Custer, Fallon, Powder River, and Rosebud.

Grant applications should be submitted to the county extension agent in the county where the loss occurred. Tentatively, signup dates for the program will run from October 16 through November 28.

For more information on the program, check out the Montana Department of Agriculture's news release: Livestock Assistance Headed for Seven Montana Counties.
