Tree Retention in a SMZ Extended for Wetlands (Rule Five: 26.6.605) Illustration

100-Foot Stream Segment

  • Retain 50 percent or the minimum number of trees greater than or equal to 8 inches diameter at breast height (DBH.)
  • The number of retention trees is based on the number of existing trees in the first 50 feet of the SMZ.
  • If the minimum number of trees greater than or equal to 8 inches DBH is not present, then retain the minimum number of trees with the largest diameters available.
