Planting Stock Grade Specifications

Planting Stock Size and Age

Rooted planting stock must not exceed a 2:1 shoot-to-root ratio (See Figure 1). Container stock shall normally not exceed a 1-gallon sized can.

Shoot-to-root ratio is 12 inches to 6 inches or 2:1. 3/16-inch to 1/2-inch caliper or diameter at 1 inch above root. Root collar planted at 1/2 inch below ground line.
