Common Name: larchleaf beardtongue or larchleaf penstemon

Morphological Characteristics:
Habit –native perennial forb.
Leaves – linear or filiform, less than 2 millimeters wide, most of them in a basal tuft.
Flower – pink to lavender colored.
Fruit – capsules opening at maturity.

Blooming:  June, July, August. Seed maturity approximately 6 to 8 weeks after flowering.

Distribution and Habitat: Occurs in sandy, often limestone-derived, soils in juniper, Cercocarpus ledifolius and Artemisia arbuscula woodlands and shrublands typically between 4500 and 6000 feet (1370 to 1800 meters). Big Horn and Carbon Counties, MT, and Park, Big Horn and Freemont Counties, WY.
