Montana Culturally Significant Plants

A database of plants significant to Montana Native American peoples has been developed by Dan Moerman at the University of Michigan. This is a database of foods, drugs, dyes, and fibers of Native American peoples derived from plants. This database contains the plant symbol, scientific name, common name, and growth habit for each plant. Additional information on each plant can be found under culturally significant plants under “Plant Topics” in the PLANTS database.

If you encounter any problems with the file provided on this page, please contact Technical Resources at 406-587-6822.

A printer-friendly version of this database is available in Adobe Reader format.
